WHAT IT IS
CreateAthon onCampus is a unique opportunity for students to put their skills and talents to use helping local nonprofit organizations. As part of a semester-long course on communication issues specific to nonprofits, college students in the fields of communications, marketing and design partner with faculty members and local professionals to develop and produce materials ranging from logo/identity packages to PR strategies — with inspiring, fulfilling results for both the community and the students.
CoC is an expansion of CreateAthon, a nationwide 24-hour, work-around the clock creative blitz begun in 1998 by RIGGS Advertising in Columbia, SC. As of 2007, CreateAthon has benefited 833 nonprofit organizations with projects valued at $7 million. For more information, visit www.createathon.org.
MISSION
In a Mass Communications setting that houses Advertising (Creative & Strategy), Public Relations, and Journalism (Print & Broadcast), CoC can provide a vast variety of materials and assistance to nonprofits — logos/identities, press release kits, newsletters, PR strategies, print advertising, posters, direct mail, web interfaces, and more — all created and polished under the advisement of faculty and local professional mentors.
CreateAthon onCampus students work alongside local agencies and develop problem-solving skills across multiple disciplines, earning the rewards of providing services and talents to worthy nonprofit organizations.
